In 1969, when the Schluneggers moved to Kerrville to lease the Food
& Beverage operation at the Inn of the Hills, they quickly built
a long list of loyal customers. After the Inn was sold in 1972, the
couple moved their popular restaurant, Annemarie’s Alpine
Lodge at the Sunday House on Sidney Baker,
which they operated for 20 years. Annemarie, the daughter of a well-respected
mayor and judge in her hometown, became a much-loved and respected Kerrville
hostess.
In 1993, the Schluneggers came home to the Inn of the Hills, and completely
refurbished the resort hotel. Today, Hans and Annemarie have stepped
back and encouraged their three children to move into management positions
at the Inn. Kurt and Marian both graduated
with degrees in Hotel and Motel Management. Kurt is general manager
and oversees the day-to-day hotel operations. Marian is the manager
of Annemarie’s Alpine Lodge Restaurant, but with her extensive
training at the Inn she is able to effectively manage any department.
Ueli, with his education in architectural engineering,
directs all major expansions and construction projects at the hotel.
