The
itinerary: In July 2003, George and Galina traveled the Swiss
Railway System to Airolo, a town situated at the southern end of the
long Gotthard tunnel, and gateway to the picturesque Bedretto Valley.
Before leaving the States, they searched the Internet for the hotel
in All’ Acqua, but discovered there was no website available.
So they booked reservations at a small inn, Albergo Stella Alpino, in
Ronco. A village located just five minutes away from All’ Acqua.
The postal bus brought the couple up the valley from Airolo to tiny
Ronco where they were welcomed by their English-speaking hosts, Paul
and Signora Forni. The Hopkins noted they had a “delightful stay”
and enjoyed excellent food in the hotel’s restaurant. The following
morning the couple boarded the bus again and rode the short distance
to All’ Acqua. While in the village, they saw summer hikers climbing
trails up the mountainside to the pass, and cyclists pedaling along
the scenic alpine road. The region revealed a pastoral picture of Swiss
rural life. After their travels, they agreed with Hans, All’ Acqua
is the perfect setting for romance and adventure.
